In October 2019, I was tasked with designing the theatrical release poster for the Assamese language feature film Aamis, directed by Bhaskar Hazarika. and presented by Bollywood director Anurag Kashyap. The movie dealt with themes of desire, food, flesh and temptation. The characters in the movie are enwrapped in a passionate bond brought together by their love for food especially non-vegetarian dishes.
I wanted the poster to evoke the same passion and the rich emotions for food and flesh in the film. Inspired by the richly textured hand painted posters of Bollywood the artwork features textures of meat interlaced into the imagery of the two protagonists.
The overall look of the poster was designed to evoke a sense of craving and desire for food. The poster's final appearance resembled a meaty steak with the edges of the poster resembling the fat.
